MendoCo Announces Two New Grants from the Community Recovery Fund, Opens Call for Applications
$40,000 given to further Northern California fire recovery efforts
UKIAH, Calif. (February 21, 2018) – The Mendocino Family of Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, and Allweather Wood) announced today it has awarded two more grants from the Redwood Valley and Santa Rosa Community Recovery Fund. The first grant, $20,000 to North Coast Opportunities, will help meet the critical needs of fire survivors; $10,000 of that will be used for temporary power poles. The second grant, another $20,000, goes to Forget Me Not Farm Children’s Services. The money will help support fire survivors attending summer camp.
The Recovery Fund has also opened a call for grant applications for the next round of funding. Grant guidelines may be found at https://mendoco.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Redwood-Valley-and-Santa-Rosa-Community-Recovery-Grant-Program-Guidelines-Final.pdf. The application deadline for the next round of funding is March 15, 2018 with disbursements announced by April 15, 2018.
“The grant applications are great examples of how the community is rebuilding,” said Bob Mertz, CEO. “It’s a testament to the strength of our community and our shared sense of responsibility. Seeing signs of rebuilding – from temporary power poles to making sure kids still get those life-forming summer camp experiences – shows how we are coming back stronger, together.”
The Redwood Valley and Santa Rosa Community Recovery Fund was established by the Mendocino Family of Companies through the Community Foundation of Mendocino County to support community restoration for youth, elderly, educators, emergency workers, and animals affected by the devastating Nuns, Redwood Valley, and Tubbs fires. Every dollar contributed to the Fund will be matched up to $400,000 by the Mendocino Family of Companies and distributed in Mendocino and Sonoma Counties.
Funds will be disbursed by the Community Foundation of Mendocino County via an independent committee, until the fund is exhausted. To ensure each donation directly benefits the community, the Mendocino Family of Companies will also pay all related administrative and promotional costs to manage the fund.
