UKIAH, Calif., January 23, 2025 — The California Department of Fish & Wildlife just announced grant awards totaling $15 million for fisheries habitat improvement projects. We are pleased to announce four of those projects totaling more than $4 million are on our lands in Humboldt and Mendocino Counties.
At Mendocino Redwood Company (MRC) three projects will occur on the North Fork of the Albion River, Soda Creek in the Navarro River watershed, and Huckleberry Creek. At Humboldt Redwood Company (HRC) one project will occur on the North Fork of Elk River. These projects will create off-channel habitat, restore floodplain function, improve fish passage, place large wood in streams, and decommission streamside roads.
Our restoration partners for these projects are Trout Unlimited, Inc. and the Eel River Watershed Improvement Group. Our Companies have a long history of working with these and other restoration partners to fund and execute important watershed improvements across our ownership.
We will provide updates and additional information on these important projects as they occur. Please visit our website and Facebook page for ongoing updates.

Humboldt and Mendocino Redwood Companies work with restoration partners including Trout Unlimited and Eel River Watershed Improvement Group (ERWIG) on watershed improvement products such as this large woody debris project on Fish Creek.
