We are pleased to announce the Mad River/Upper Jacoby Creek Watershed Analysis Report (November 17, 2025) has been completed.  The purpose of watershed analysis (WA) is to promote local understanding of the link between aquatic habitat, hillslope conditions and processes, and forest management activities in order for the Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) state and federal Wildlife Agencies to establish watershed-specific HCP riparian management and mass wasting avoidance prescriptions for protecting and restoring aquatic habitat for covered species. This is the initial watershed analysis for the Mad River/Upper Jacoby Creek WA Unit (MUJ WAU), the last of Humboldt Redwood Company’s (HRC) Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) covered lands not previously assessed.

A copy of the final report including proposed WA prescriptions (Appendix 3) can be found here:  https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1THAoDaUObSB5QEBLu1QXRCWbbRn8U-YO?dmr=1&ec=wgc-drive-globalnav-goto

Questions regarding the company’s Habitat Conservation Plan, Watershed Analysis, or the report specifically, can be directed to Hayley Ross, Mendocino Forest Products’ Stewardship Manager.

Public comment regarding the report and proposed WA prescriptions is being accepted through March 31, 2026, and can be submitted via email to Hayley Ross (hross@mendoco.com).

A hard copy of the report can also be found in the upstairs Humboldt Room of the Humboldt County Library in Eureka, California.
