William
F. Smith Interview
Bill Smith
retired in 1985 as senior resource manager of the Louisiana-Pacific
Coastal Division. Born in New York City in 1927 to a mother
who was a Radio City Rockette and a father who was a vaudeville
comedian, Bill said, with a broad smile, that he decided
on forestry when he discovered “there was life outside
of cities.” In October 2007, Bill came into the MRC
Forestry Office in Ukiah for a 90-minute video interview
about his 42 years of experience in the timber industry.
